The 'Phil Kessel Era' begins tonight versus Tampa Bay!!!
WOW - just like a full-out train-wreck, And-o can't look away.
Seriously folks...is it just And-o or are the Leafs leaning on the wrong guy??? Does anyone ever remember Phil Kessel being a serious threat against the Habs over the past few years? How do they figure that this kid is capable of taking on the roll of 'marquee' in T.O.!???
Can you say "OVER-RATED"!?!?!?!????
This is gonna be U-G-L-Y!

...any and all momentum that the Leafs may or may not leverage rides on this kids stick.
Imagine if this kid puts up 5 goose-eggs in a row!???
On the other hand, imagine if this kid bags a few and touches a few before his linemates light the lamp!???
Zero or Hero!!!
And-o just can't envision a realistic scenario though where this kid is not absolutely hated next season at this time in T.O.!
P.S. Bear in mind, this kid (dating back through his junior days) is notorious for pouting and whining when the going gets rough. Good-luck playing in T.O. Phil!!!

Julien had to bench Kessel a couple years ago in the playoffs against The Habs (the series they won in 7) because he did not compete hard enough. Interesting how in last two years Bruin players who did things not "The Bruins Way" or "Julien's Way" are now ex-Bruins. Kessel for not competing/being intimidated? (Also asking for too much money). Aaron Ward mouthing off to Scott Walker & not being prepared to defend himself (he had his arms down by his side) so Walker filled him in quite nicely. Ward was upset by a so-called sucker punch but Ward has been in The NHL long enough to expect just about anything as he is not a rookie......

Kessel is a solid complimentary player but not an impact guy. TO don't have any Savards that can get him the puck on the fly. Kessel just isn't mature enough to handle the pressure that goes along with what TO gave up for him. It'll be a rollercoaster ride for him...he'll be lucky to be hero more often than goat.

The FAN590 was pointing out this morning how disconcerting it is that a guy that hasn't played in 6 months (Kessel) was head and shoulders above every other Leaf.
What did the leaf fan do after the leafs won the Stanley Cup? He turned off the Playstation
Police have found the body of a man in Lake Ontario wearing a Leafs jersey, womens underwear, fishnet stockings, and a pink wig. They have removed the Leafs jersey to save the family any embarrassment ...

Exactly...although And-o is convinced that this kid (having been around the Leafs for a few months) fully understands just how high expectations are for him!
It will be interesting to see how he performs going forward into the coming weeks.
As And-o said, this is one train-wreck that is well worth watching!
Hero or zero and NOTHING in between!

The Leafs gave up a first rounder in The Lindros draft to The Devils & it ended up being third overall but in this case it is two first rounders & a second with the possibilty of lottery picks being involved with the first rounders the way The Leafs are going now. It is not very often that two first round picks are traded in the same transaction although years ago with Gord Stellick as GM ? - The Leafs got two first rounders for goalie Ken Wregget from The Flyers.......

How about April, 2009?
In 4 playoff games against the Habs: 4 goals & 2 assists for 6 points.
That's a pretty serious threat.
No riposte from Mr. Spot-on?
Nil - You should know by now that a couple of posters here if they do not have a "so called witty comeback" or a good rebuttal will not response as if nothing was posted but that goes on at most message boards anyways.........

Peter Chiarelli made urke look like a fool (not that he needed any help!). 2 First rounders for Kessel when it looks like Kessel would walk anyway? Brilliant. The best part is that as bad as the Laffs are going to be this season, the Bruins could end up with the first overall pick.
