Let's be clear here. Burke has not gotten ANY jobs done until the Leafs actually do anything other than rebuild.

Burke is on a 5-year plan type deal. This is no more of an accomplishment than hiring Timmins. Actually it's less when you consider that Allaire was already his goaltending coach in Anaheim.

Accomplishment or not, I think it's fair to say that Burke secured a good goalie coach. This is a good move for their team. Bastards.

No question, but until the Laffs pick up a single good player I'm not joining the Burke admiration society that seems to have quite a few members around here. Grabovsky doesn't count.

Thsi is more a sign of another Gainey failure as it is a Burke success. If Gainey cannot convince the best goalie coach in the world to come to Montreal when he LIVES there (and when he supposedly has teh top prospect in the league to work with) then how do we really believe he can attract a real UFA?

It is not a Gainey failure because he was not given permission to speak to Allaire - that right was reserved for Burke. A legal form of collusion.

Yeah I'm not sure why everyone is making a big deal over this one. It's obvious Burke had a previous connection with Allaire that gives him first crack at the situation. Also plenty of potential for him to get Giguere since Anaheim potentially needs to shed his salary.

It's too bad Tippett doesn't speak French because Gainey probably could've landed him in a similar fashion due to the old Dallas connection.

Members of Toronto media are placing some blame on Allaire for Toskala's poor performance to date. Scotty Bowman was talking with the FAN590 in Toronto this morning about it. They are saying that Toskala has always used his athleticism and now Allaire is forcing him to stick with a positional form of the butterfly. He is taking a 32-year old verteran and trying to change his style. Isn't that what made a lot of people happy to see Rolie the Goalie get turfed?

It counts if you're looking for bad faceoff men; he's dead last in the league in that department. Hahahahahahahah......

We'll see if The Burke Admiration Society grows if the first rounders for Kessell become lottery picks........

The Leafs goaltending is weak...REALLY weak.

Gone are the days in T.O. where they could merely ride Belfour or Cujo for a guaranteed 30-to-35 wins.

The Leafs are in free-fall.

Burke WAS building responsibly...then the Phil Kessel deal made him look absolutely STUPID.

Gotta love those Nova Scotians, eh And-o? No, I don't know him or any of his relatives.

Read it here first, but heard it first on Saturday when Cherry said it. Get And-o a loud suit and that old fart can retire.

If that happens it wouldn't be until after the Olympics as Wilson & Burke are
GM and coach of The USA Olympic team.........The Leafs went through the same thing in a
previous Olympic year - John Ferguson wanted to fire Quinn but there was pressure not to do it
cause Quinn was The Olympic coach (it wouldn't look good on Team Canada) so Quinn was let go at the end of the hockey year.......
