Ducks' Burke blames Oilers' Lowe for inflated salaries
After signing free agent forward to a five-year extension worth $26.63 million on Tuesday, Ducks general manager Brian Burke had some choice words about the new salary climate in the NHL and Edmonton Oilers general manager Kevin Lowe. Burke told the Los Angeles Times that the rise in salaries for young players can be traced back to Lowe.
"You go right now from entry-level to what used to be the third contract, thanks to two offer sheets from Kevin Lowe," Burke said to the Times. "Most [general] managers don't like starting fights with any other managers. . Thanks to the Edmonton Oilers, the second contract has disappeared. They're all being re-signed at inflated prices. Everything I said a year ago has come true. Every single word."

| Lowe, like BG has a hard time recruiting UFAs thus he compensated by utilizing the other tools allotted to him by the CBA. It's all within the rules and to the most part is now building through trade. He won't keep his team down long...he has too much Oiler pride thus the aggressiveness. No use sitting on his hands. They have some good young players so why not build around them for this season.

Rally though, Burkey is making a bigger Ahole of himself (if that is possible) every time he opens his trap. Kudos to Kevin Lowe who, after listening to Burke's verbal diareah for a year, finally said enough is enough and fired back.

I find it strange that the minute Lowe responded to Burke's numerous comments, the league steps in and warns the both of them. Why didn't the league step in when Burke was shooting his mouth off all last season.
Lowe isn't exactly exempt from stupidity either. He had no right to bring the Vancouver team accomplishments when Burke was at the helm into this. As well, how does Bobby Ryan feel today about Lowe's reference to him as a questionable pick in the draft by Burke.

i have no idea why but the league seems to bow to this guy like he is some sorta god.. Toronto too....
