Why do you apply this double-standard to Souray? Anytime Koivu got hurt it was because he was not durable, soft, small, too old, etc... Not his fault, but Souray has been the most accident-prone player in the league for a decade and he gets a free pass from you. Do you still think he was a good signing for the Oilers?

This injury was not caused by a rut in the ice as Ab has stated. Ignila took Shelly's feet out from under him and then crushed Shelly head first into the boards.

Of course I thought all that, plouf, but I don't bother any more................

Okay Mulsy. I'd like to see you skate off after getting your head rammed in the boards like that. Nothing glass about Souray. The guy plays through pain. How many goals did he score or how many fights did he have with a torn rotator cuff?
As for Koivu...that's your opinion and prerogative. I don't care. Whatever floats your boat.
My thread was about my buddy Souray. You and Ploufy can start your own thread on Koivu.

Right. Souray's a warrior. Not his fault he gets hurt. But he plays through it, and by all accounts his teammates love him. He's a warrior. Not sure why Koivu is any different in your books. When he got hurt you hoped he wouldn't be re-signed. Too injury prone. But Souray is a "great signing" in Edmonton. Sadly he hasn't really panned out for them at almost 6 million per. Jeez AB, at least Koivu led his team to the playoffs a few times.

Nice sidestep of the issue AC.
But you can't spend years complaining about a guy's injury problems then out the other side of your mouth say the Habs are better when he's injured.
I guess this kind of "logic" is at the heart of all your theories?
Apparently the players in Edmonton "absolutely love [Souray]"...and this is based on? Oh, I get it! Media quotes! Well if you go by media quotes everybody absolutely loves every captain in the NHL! Especially good ole' #11! You could make a book out of positive assessments of his leadership by teammates. I have yet to see a single negative one. What does it mean?
The players in Edmonton probably do love Souray. But why the double standard? Since we're using media quotes to decide, why don't we conclude then that Koivu is just a wonderful guy, a fantastic leader? Oh, that doesn't fit your theory?...you want to use results, eh? Well Edmonton has had far worse results and public division/discipline issues since Souray arrived. And unlike the Habs they haven't even managed to get into the playoffs. Oh and hey, wait a minute, wasn't Souray part of Montreal's leadership himself, while problems were happening there? I wonder what it all means? Could it be Kovy's fault? Koivu? Carbo? The spoiled brats who Gainey should have billeted with the veterans? Who the hell knows? Unless you have a mole in the dressing room though, the best you can do is ADMIT that you don't. And if you're going to make blanket statements based on evidence, apply the evidence the same way for each player.
Oh and by the way, your "team plays better without Koivu in the lineup" argument is not supported by the actual statistics. Unless you want to just pick and choose one or two of ten+ seasons and avoid the others. I suppose could work. Do what you gotta do AC.

Fair enough. Forgive me father, I have sinned.

(In my defense, my one excuse. Any mention of Souray by AC almost constitutes a Koivu thread after he used Souray as a blunt device with which to bash Koivu for years.)
Sorry Plouf, I came across as one who never does that, which I know I have done in the past . I guess I am just tired of the Souray/Koivu bashing that still goes on on this board at every opportunity, despite either of them being Habs anymore. Time to put both of them to rest, may they RIP.

True enough.
I will try to be a good boy in the future.
By the way, I LIKE Souray. Always did, still do, except for the week he signed with Edmonton.... but then I got over it. So I don't agree with JohnM's souray-hatred.
Still in my bad books: Mike Komisarek, aside from Samsonov the only ex-Hab I will boo. (and maybe SK74 if he doesn't pull his head out of his butt soon.) I'm not counting long-ago Habs like Darcy *ucker.
