This guy is going to be good!!!!
I just got back from the OHL All-Stars vs the Russian Jr All-Stars game.....Subban was one of the best players out there for Canada all night.
Only one glaring mistake....and that was at the end of a long shift (and it didn't lead to anything for Russia).
He's also got a cannon from the point!!!!!!! (too bad we can't still bring him up this year)
You can't call somebody up from the OHL. Calm down a little. We're all upset after the loss, but maybe you'll be posting more rationally tomorrow.
If we were to bring Subban up now he would look less NHL ready that O'Byrne and Brisebois if you combined their gaffes. He has a lot of potential, but I always find it funny when people complain that one young guy isn't NHL ready and then demand to replace him with someone who is less NHL ready.

That wasn't my intent with the original post....notice I mentioned that he can't be called up ....and said nothing about replacing any current players.
I was merely pointing out what we have to look forward to in the future.
I for one think this season in Belleville/Canadian Juniors will do the kid a world of good with leadership and his overall game. It will only make him better once he does make the big club.

Great to hear Cup25!
Cant wait for the rest of you to see this guy in action. He is a good pal of mine from back when i was at school in Bellevegas. He is as entertaining off the ice as he is on it. His skating and his shot our out of this world. And he has such a passion for the game. Even though he is from Toronto (Rexdale) he and his family grew up Habs fans. So to say the least it was a dream come true for PK.
I love it when other posters give PK reports besides myself! Nice job Cup 25!!

I know. My comment was directed at Nietsche, not you. I do hope Subban continues to develop as quickly and as well as he has so that he can be a solid puck moving defenseman on our team in the near future.

Subban currently is tied in the WJHC with Erik Karlsson, 1st round pick for Ottawa, for top scoring defenseman in the tournament with 2g,3a in 3 games.
I'm impressed with his play so far. Much better all around player than I expected: great explosiveness, good passing ability, good shot, solid physically, pretty reliable down low in his own end, and plays with alot of energy. Great pick by Timmins!

That's good for sure, but is it a valid assessment, against the likes of Kazakhstan and Germany?

Well skills are skills, regardless of who you play against. I guess his point totals are less relevant because of the weak opposition, but his toolset impresses me, and that 'is what it is', as And-o would say.

Can someone tell me how to pronounce his name? (Last name, that is, I think I have "P.K." down pat............ )
Before I ever heard it, I assumed it was "subbin'" (as in the short form of "subbing"), then I heard the RDS guys pronounce it "Soo-ban" and TSN pronounce it "SOO-ban" or "SOO-bin".

I think when they did the personal introduction profiles he pronounced his own name SOO-ban.
When you break it down like that it makes him sound like a menu item at a Korean restaurant .
